Life’s Abundance and JKW

Dear Lester, Sasha and the rest of the team,

Thank you for your interest in my particular flavor of visual storytelling for your unique brand!

As promised, here is a preliminary concept proposal including some experimental sample images, art direction, and pricing estimates based on our exploration of your needs so far.

Needless to say, this can be an ongoing conservation until we reach your ideal scenario for the scope of projects, deliverable assets and timeline.

In the meantime, I’m confident we can assist in fine tuning your vision, and execute on your specific requirements as they become more clear.

Thank you again for your consideration… I look forward to creating something special with you all!

Sincerely,

Josh

ITEM ONE // Product Shots and E-Comm

Style Notes:

Based on your current site design, my recommendation for the pet specific suite of goods would be to shoot a minimum of 4-6 product shots per product. This would consist of:

  • x1 front on shot of the packaging on a predetermined color background (shot on a colored backdrop or artificially created in post)

  • x1 overhead shot of the product on a flat white surface (neatly styled)

  • x1-2 angled shots of the product on a flat white or colored backdrop (loosely styled for a more lived and realistic expression of the product)

  • x1 tightly cropped detail shot to show texture

  • x1-2 fun and creative styled shots. These special case concept images can be captured at the same time as we shoot the clean product shots. I think these additional assets could make for excellent web and social media content, as well as delivery cards, even if they do not appear alongside the clean product shots

  • Optional: I also think the inclusion of a scale image with diagram could be helpful for certain products (see example below)

Other considerations:

Personally, I believe that with food products specifically, the inclusion of props, ingredients, and realistic surfaces like floors and counter tops are unnecessary and could potentially look outdated sooner than later.

For bottled products like cleaners, creams etc, 2-3 product shots would suffice since we can’t really show the product unpackaged. However, the inclusion of props and/or models I think would be more appropriate here to show a more lived experience with the product.

Additional Product Shot Examples:

Please note: All the above images have only had mild editing for experimental purposes (not fully retouched).

OVERVIEW AND INITIAL ESTIMATE

Based on the entire array of products currently visible on the website, I estimate that the product photography portion of this project would require an average of 1 hour to shoot and 1 hour to edit (not including set up, break down, transportation of the sample products, and file management). Some products I believe will be simpler, and others more complicated depending on the final style guidelines.

  • Studio support (assistants as needed)

  • Final images in high-resolution jpeg format (300dpi)

  • Duplicate images cropped and resized to specified guidelines

  • One round of revisions (reshoot, re-edit, or minor adjustments)

ITEM TWO // Environmental Shoots and Brand Story

In addition to your studio-based product photography needs, the brief discussion about lifestyle and other shoots (such as product launches, brand content, behind the scenes, personal stories, and highlighting core values and giving back projects) was immensely appealing to me. After all, I am a storyteller… and I believe creating compelling, authentic and undeniably beautiful images that illustrate your company’s mission and ethos is where I can be of most help to you! I also believe this type of high quality yet organic and story-driven content strengthens a brand’s message and appeal.

Since there hasn’t been any specific project discussions on this yet, I thought I’d get ahead of your needs and provide a general breakdown of what these shoots could entail.

All individual commercial shoots are quoted specific to the scope and complexity of the story we’re telling.

For instance, a series of documentary images describing one of your “giving-back” projects would likely require a full day or more of shooting (as well as the necessary planning and other considerations). On the flip side, a quick highlight of an existing product (shot in a real world scenario for a specific ad need) may only require a partial day shoot.

Either way, our process is largely the same and always includes:

  • A consultation to refine the vision for the shoot and end use

  • Location scouting if needed

  • Pre-production planning and art direction

  • Equipment, transportation, assistants and other support

  • Digital image capture (video is also available)

  • Post-production (image processing and basic retouching)

  • Final images in high-resolution jpeg format (300dpi)

FEES

  • Full day rate $5,900

  • Partial day rate $3,500

  • Advanced retouch requests $50 per image

  • Commercial use image licensing fee + 15% of project total

  • Talent, hair and makeup, wardrobe, props are not included

  • Additional needs such as video content, travel requirements or other requests are negotiable

  • Commercial use licensing fees are negotiable

ITEM THREE // Podcast

As discussed, our team would be happy to help facilitate the audio and video production and editing of your internal podcast series.

Our services would include:

  • Two camera interview style setup

  • Dynamic lighting with color options

  • Grip and support as needed

  • High fidelity audio capture and sync to video timecode

  • Secure back ups

  • Editing as needed (turnaround within 5 days)

  • Publish to youtube with segment time stamps

  • Studio, furniture, props and microphones not included

Based on our research, we recommend aiming for an optimal episode length of about 30 minutes. With an average of no less than 1 episode per month to start.

FEES

  • $1,900 per episode up to 40 mins

Thank you again for your interest!

I look forward to following up with you soon to refine the direction, scope and timeline for the above projects.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to call or email.
